The Endlessly Pretty Waterside Wedding of Abigail & Brian

Come with me and discover the dreamily elegant Michigan Lake inspired celebrations of this chic couple, and their whimsical custom wedding invitations.

Weddings held near water, are my favorite type of celebrations. The sound of the waves crashing against the beach, the smell of fresh air being swept onto the shore. It’s all so magical, and has been a massive inspiration for me while designing custom wedding invitations. In fact, when Abigail and Brian got in touch with me about creating their big day stationery, and shared where they will be holding their reception. I instinctively knew just how their set should look.

The waterside wedding of Abigail and Brian was an elegant affair that embraced the stunning natural surroundings of their Michigan home. Their palette was awash with pastel tones and creams that only served to celebrate their understated backdrop. While an earthy blue was thoughtfully used on their bridesmaids, groomsmen accessories and custom wedding invitations, in a nod to their lakeside location. And that lake featured heavily in their touching portraits, the perfect scene for the couple, and for Abigail’s stunning gown. A modern, yet timeless creation with beading that hinted at a time gone by, without feeling too antique. Its wistful long train, and delightful tulle shoulder gave movement to the design, and caught the gentle breeze just so gracefully.

The celebration of Abigail and Brian’s nuptials had all the relaxed refinement they had been hoping for. It was held at the Bay Harbor Yacht Club, an already exquisite setting. And one that works wonderfully as a blank canvas, ripe for personalization and unique decor. Abigail and Brian truly made the space their own by filling their tables with glass housed candles, overflowing greenery and blooming florals from A.R Pontius Flowers. This elegant detailing served as the perfect frame for their picture-perfect evening, and coordinated just so charmingly with my custom wedding stationery.

Wedding Suite

Together with Abigail and Brian, we designed their suite of custom wedding stationery and invitations to tie in with the theme of the day, and give their guests a glimpse of what to expect from the occasion. Using Lake Michigan as our main inspiration, we let it’s naturally occurring colours define our palette. Working in rustic, washed out blues, creams, and greens to create an elegantly ethereal feel. While the lake’s iconic shape was reflected in a playful, blue tinged watercolour that framed the details of the reception.

It was an honour to play just a small part in the sweet celebrations of Abigail and Brian, and I wish them every happiness for the future ahead.
